In this world man cannot live without doing a profession. He must have to do some sort of profession to maintain his livelihood. But which professions should he follow?

There are many professions in the world, such as the professions of doctor, engineer, professor, officer, teacher, soldier, clerk, peon, driver, conductor, jailor, collector, printer, publisher, welder, moulder, draftsman, machineman, policeman, milkman, oilman, fisherman, washerman, trader, shop-keeper and so on. It is very difficult for a man to choose the right profession for himself.

Choosing a profession is very difficult, no doubt. Because a man wishes to get a profession that carries high power, fat salary and high quarters with beautiful furniture. But he forgets to consider how far he is fit for this profession. How far he is able to do this work and whether he will like to do the nature of work allied with this profession. So, it is very likely that he may do a wrong choice of profession.

A profession which is right for one man be wrong for another. Because ability and aptitude differ from man to man. If a man takes up a profession for which he is unfit, he leads a life of unhappiness, inefficiency and frustration. Life becomes a burden to him. Suppose a man likes to sit and do clerical works but he joins the executive line only because that carries handsome pay, position and power. Consequently he proves misfit and feels miserable. So, he cannot prosper in his profession.

Choosing a profession, is no doubt important in one"s life. So, one should choose a profession after thinking over the pros and cons of it.

My Future Profession
Finishing school is the beginning of the independent life for millions of school leavers. Many roads are opened before them: vocational and technical schools, institutes and universities. But it is not an easy thing to choose a profession out of more than 2,000 existing in the world. Some pupils follow the advice of their parents, others can"t decide even after leaving school.

As for me, I made my choice long ago. I want to become a teacher of the Ukrainian language and literature. My choice of this occupation didn"t come as a sudden flash. During all school years literature was my favourite subject. I"ve read a lot of books by Ukrainian and foreign writers. I understand that reading books helps people in self education and in solving different life problems.

I would like to teach my pupils to enjoy reading, to encourage them to learn our national language and literature, which is the source of national culture. It is known that teaching is a very specific and difficult job. It shouldn"t be taken easily. The teacher is a person who is learning as well as teaching all his life.

Most jobs can be done within the usual office hours from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m., but teacher"s work is never done and evenings are usually spent in marking exercise-books and preparing for the next lesson.

It"s not as easy as it may seem at first. But I think that love for children combined with the knowledge I"ll get at the University would be quite enough to succeed in my work.

Окончание школы — это начало самостоятельной жизни для миллионов выпускников. Перед ними открыто много дорог: профучилища и техникумы, институты и университеты. Но нелегко выбрать одну профессию из 2000, существующих в мире. Некоторые ученики следуют советам своих родителей, другие же не могут сделать выбор даже после окончания школы.

Что касается меня, я сделал(а) свой выбор давно. Я хочу стать учителем украинской литературы и языка. Мой выбор этой профессии не был неожиданностью. Все школьные годы моим любимым предметом была литература. Я читал(а) много книг украинских и зарубежных писателей. Я понимаю, что чтение книг помогает людям в самообразовании и в решении разных жизненных проблем.

Мне бы хотелось научить детей получать удовольствие от чтения, помочь им выучить родной язык и литературу, который является источником национальной культуры. Известно, что профессия учителя особенная и трудная. К ней нельзя относиться легкомысленно. Учитель — это человек, который учится сам и учит других всю жизнь.

Большинство работ выполняется в обычные рабочие часы с 9 утра до 5 вечера, но работа учителя никогда не заканчивается, и вечера обычно заняты проверкой тетрадей и подготовкой к следующему уроку.

Это не так легко, как кажется на первый взгляд. Но я думаю, что любовь к детям, соединенная со знаниями, которые я получу в университете, поможет мне преуспеть в работе.

The matter of choosing a career

I’m going to tell you about my future profession. There are two most important things in anyone’s life: choosing a career and getting a job. Some pupils know what they are going to do after leaving school but for others it’s difficult to give a definite answer about their future profession. We get to know about a wide range of professions from magazines and advertisements and then we make either our own choice or follow our parents’ advice as they are also concerned about our future.

Choosing a career

When choosing a career one should take into consideration all the possibilities that it might provide. First of all, it should be interesting. Secondly, one has to be sure to be able to find a good and well-paid job after graduating. Another important factor that influences the choice of the profession is our abilities to different disciplines. One has to analyze thoroughly which things or subjects he or she is good at, and only then make a final choice.

I want to be an interpreter

As for me, since my childhood I’ve known I want to be an interpreter. My choice is closely connected with the importance of foreign languages and cultures which is growing nowadays. Foreign languages are needed for communication with people on our planet. I believe that among all, English is the most universal and widely spread. It’s an official language in a vast number of countries. Besides, it’s the language of international aviation, sports, medicine, the language of science and technology, trade, cultural and business relations.

Conclusion

I’m quite aware that the job of an interpreter isn’t an easy one. You have to be very communicative and responsible. Moreover, be prepared to work long hours and move around a lot. But on the other hand you’ll have a chance to travel to different foreign countries and to meet a lot of interesting people. I think this profession is worth taking up. Being a student of the University I pay special attention to English and try to work hard. I hope I’ve made the right decision.

I believe that every person should find his place in life and choose the right profession. It was my childhood dream to serve in the army. It is a difficult and responsible job. I"d like to do this job because I love my homeland.

To be a professional officer is a great responsibility and honour. In my job you need to be healthy, strong, flexible, brave, patient, hardy and have good intuition. Working in a team is another useful skill. I"ve entered the Cadet Corps and It was the first step towards achieving my dreams. Our Cadet Corps is a great school of life. After finishing it it"s much easer to enter and learn in a military university. Military men in a society are considered to be respected and noble people. This job is also well-paid. It"s important too.

It goes without saying that we have to love our job because it"s our life.

Я считаю каждый человек должен найти себя в жизни и выбрать правильную профессию. Это была моя детская мечта служить в армии. Это сложная и ответственная работа. Мне бы хотелось делать эту работу потому что я люблю свою Родину.

Быть профессиональным офицером огромная ответственность. В моей профессии необходимо быть здоровым, сильным, гибким, смелым, терпеливым, настойчивым и иметь хорошую интуицию. Работать в команде также полезный навык. Я поступил в кадетский корпус и это был первый шаг осуществления моей мечты. После этого намного легче поступить и учиться в военном ВУЗе. My future profession is a historian. Historians learn past. This profession is very important. Historians have many specializations. For example, they are divided into specialists in ancient history, medieval history and New Time history. Historians are also divided on fields of historical science. For example, there are specialists for emblems. One of the first heraldists was Francis Santi. Specialists for emblems have the task to make emblem for areas and peoples. There are also people who study primitive societies, there are archaeologists and paleontologists. They dig up antiquities, for example mammoths or dinosaurs. There are also specialists for sources and methodologists, they have task to research codification, and interpretation source. They determine when this source was written, who wrote it, if there is a true. Historians also work as archivists and museum workers. Their task is to preserve valuables, to classify them and to catalog. Historians work as teachers in schools and universities. There are also more narrow specializations, for example fashion historians or art historians, music historians, cinema historians.

Historian must have a range of skills which helps him in his work. There are skills: The ability to choose the right material for the study, interpretation skills, the ability to properly tell the material and historian also should not afraid to speak in public. Historian must have the ability to write reports, articles and books. Besides, historian needs pedagogical skills. Some historians need knowledge and skills from other sciences because of their specialization, for example, biology, physics, mathematics, chemistry, anthropology. Historians can work in journalism and state structures; they may be officials and may be advisers. In addition historians can go after bachelor in other sciences, for example philosophy, political science, sociology. In general, skills, possessed by historians, are rather wide and can be applied in various fields.

Моя будущая профессия - это историк. Историки изучают прошлое. Эта профессия очень важна. Историки имеют много специализаций. Например, они делятся на специалистов по Античной истории, Средним векам и специалистов по Новому времени.

Также историки делятся по областям исторической науки. Например, есть специалисты по гербам. Одним из первых геральдистов был Франциск Санти. Также историк должен обладать умением писать как статьи, отчеты, так и книги. Еще историку нужны педагогические навыки. Некоторым историкам из-за их специализации нужны знания и навыки из других наук: биологии, физики, математики, химии, антропологии.

Историки могут работать в журналистике и государственных структурах, они могут быть чиновниками, а могут быть и советниками. Кроме этого, историки могут после бакалавриата уходить в другие науки, например в философию, политологию или социологию. Sooner or later everybody has to think about his or her future profession. But when you are just sixteen, it’s so difficult to , and so easy to make a mistake! Of course, some people from the very childhood know for sure what they want to be. For example, my best friend has always known that she will be a doctor. She attends special courses for enhanced studying of biology and chemistry, and she believes in her success. As for me, I don’t know exactly what I want. I like a lot of things, and I do well in most subjects. And many professions appear interesting to me.
